Over the past few years some extension agents have reported a troubling trend. Alfalfa is cut, baled and then an insecticide is applied shortly after the bales have been removed. This is not a recommended practice for a variety of reasons. Scouting the field is the only way to know if PHL is present in populations large enough to cause damage to alfalfa regrowth, justifying an insecticide application.

Recent discussions of weed management in soybeans are often centered around glyphosate, rates, weed heights, and application timing. Thus, we should consider the light conditions that a young weed seedling experiences.

The judge has amended several regulations from his final ruling on May 3rd 2007. While the amendments do not change the restrictions on planting Roundup Ready alfalfa, they clarify some restrictions to the harvesting of Roundup Ready alfalfa already planted before the injunction and cleaning of equipment.
