We are just finishing the 2006 Pest Management Update meetings this week. Over the past week, I have seen more corn in the fields than during any other fall when we’ve held these meetings (at least since I’ve been here). If the late harvest or other field operations kept you from attending one of these meetings, packets of the materials can be ordered.

The packet contains these items:

2007 Pest Management in Wisconsin Field Crops bulletin.  (Individual copies can be ordered from http://learningstore.uwex.edu/ at the retail price of $8.50 plus $8.00 shipping).

Identifying Natural Enemies in Field Crops bulletin.  The guide was conceived in response to the critical role beneficial insects are playing in managing soybean aphid populations.  The guide is divided into sections by major groups of natural enemies and spiders: beetles, true bugs, lacewings, predatory flies, parasitoids, spiders and ants. The publication can easily be used in the field with its plastic-coated pages. (Individual copies can be ordered at http://www.emdc.msue.msu.edu/ for $10).

Biology and Management of Wild Buckwheat bulletin.  The second bulletin in a series that highlights management of weeds that are difficult to control in glyphosate-based cropping systems.

Powerpoint handouts of the slides that we (Eileen Cullen, Craig Grau, Mark Renz, and Chris Boerboom) presented at the meetings.

To order a Pest Management Update packet, contact Rose Scott, Agronomy Dept., 1575 Linden Drive, Madison, WI 53706 (phone 608-262-7588; email rmscott@wisc.edu).  Enclose $18.00 for a single packet ($15.00 for the materials and $3.00 for postage and handling) or $34 for two packets.  Call for shipping and handling charges on orders for three or more packets.  Please make checks payable to the University of Wisconsin-Extension.
