Although a little late for winter annuals and perennials, the WisconsinWeedGarden is now officially open for business. For those not familiar with the weed garden it is located just south of the PublicEventsBuilding parking lot at the Arlington Agricultural Research Station. The weed garden contains common weeds found in field crops, gardens, pastures, lawns and right-of-ways. Plants in the garden are organized by life cycle: the perennials are on the east end, the biennials are next, and then the annuals. In addition, on the far west end are 20 weeds commonly found in lawns and gardens. Each species is identified by its common and Latin names and the key characteristics of each are given on a plastic name plate. A complete list of all species is available in the brochure in the mailbox located on the east end of the garden. Weeds will be maintained throughout the summer and fall, so feel free to stop by and brush-up on your weed identification.
