Don’t be confused. The Wisconsin Crop Management Conference is the same great conference and trade show that you valued for many years as the Wisconsin Fertilizer, Aglime, and Pest Management Conference. It just has a new, shorter name, which focuses on crop management, the product of input decisions on fertility, pest control, genetics, etc. Full flyer attached.

The more things change, the more they remain . . . insane. M. Frye and T. Lewis

Agriculture is certainly experiencing its share of change and uncertainty. Many may believe it is truly insane. With greater business risks facing agriculture today, the 2009 Conference has been planned with many sessions to help you understand new financial and management options for you and your clientele. Here’s a short sampling of several presentation titles:

  • Fertilizer supply, demand, and price outlook

  • Commodity price outlook

  • Fertilizer management: new economics, new practices?

  • Soybean seed costs: Time for the bin?

  • Crop rotation economics

  • Management decisions for foliar fungicides in corn

  • Do insect thresholds change with high crop prices?

In total, the Conference offers you a choice of 55 educational presentations over 2.5 days. If you are a Certified Crop Advisor seeking CEU credits, the Conference also offers a balance of topics with 7.5 credits in soil and Water, 7 credits in Crop Management, 9 credits in Pest Management, 6.5 credits in Nutrient Management, and 1 Professional Development credit.

In addition to the standard presentations, please note these special sessions on Wednesday.

  • Review and exam for re-certifying pesticide applicators in Category 1.1 – this session is scheduled for applicators who wish to re-certify in a quick session in the morning and attend sessions or visit the trade show in the afternoon.

  • SNAP-Plus Update and SNAP-Plus Beginners sessions – great for the seasoned veteran or beginner.

We are pleased to plan and coordinate the educational sessions of the Conference. We believe these sessions create great synergy with the tremendous trade show hosted by the Wisconsin Crop Production Association. This single conference provides remarkable opportunities for education, meeting with vendors and exhibitors, and networking. Please join us and 1,700 other agricultural professionals at the 2009 Wisconsin Crop Management Conference.

So what’s with the new Conference name? The history and name of this Conference dates back over 50 years. The most recent major name change was 30 years ago when the Pest Management Conference merged with the Fertilizer and Aglime Conference to create the Fertilizer, Aglime and Pest Management Conference. So, after 30 years with significant evolution in agronomic technologies and issues, a (shorter) conference title that encompasses the whole of crop management seemed appropriate. Therefore, the new title is the Wisconsin Crop Management Conference or WCMC for short.

Proceeding titles for the Conference through 52 years.
