Private Applicator: Private applicators are essentially agricultural producers. Examples include farmers, orchardists, greenhouse operators, and Christmas tree growers. Currently, 15,100 private applicators are certified in Wisconsin. Commercial Applicator: Commercial applicators include anyone (other than someone applying pesticides in or around their own home) who is not a private applicator. Examples include lawn care professionals, pet groomers, custom agrichemical applicators, and right-of-way crews. Currently, 12,800 commercial applicators are certified in Wisconsin.
Certification Category Descriptions: There are 6 private applicator certification categories/subcategories and 20 commercial applicator certification categories/subcategories. If you need to be certified as a pesticide applicator, you will need to get certified in the appropriate category(ies) and, if applicable, subcategory(ies.)
