Life Cycle

Summer Annual

Biology

 Seeds germinate in mid to late summer;
 Tillage favors germination and re-rooting
 Small, yellow flowers
 Capsules with many seeds
 Succulent stems with sticky sap
 Stems re-root readily; prefers fertile, moist soils

Management

Mulch with grass clippings, straw or other material; hoe purslane before it flowers and remove plants from garden to prevent re-rooting.
