Corn Premix Comparison

Tim Trower and Chris Boerboom

Herbicide premixes provide growers many benefits, including fewer herbicide containers, easy mixing, flexibility in adding (spiking) extra herbicide if needed, and in many cases, a lower cost per acre than if the components were purchased separately. On the downside, it can become difficult to remember the active ingredients of each premix, information that is important in formulating a weed resistance management strategy.  We have created the following attachment to provide a comparison of the different corn herbicide premixes that are available from various manufactures.  The tables list a wealth of information that allows growers to determine the components of the premix and the amount of each active ingredient when the premix is applied at a standard rate.  The final column gives the equivalent rates of each active ingredient in the premix as if they were to be purchased separately and applied in a tankmix.  The information provided is only a guide for comparing formulations; refer to the label for exact rates and uses.  Go to Table in Excel.
